Luann Canham Kornowa

Luann Alice Canham Kornowa, at the young age of 70, peacefully passed away on June 5, 2025, surrounded by love and peace in Sylvania, Ohio. Luann was born in Detroit, MI to Thomas & Nancy (Stevenson) Canham, Sr. on February 4 th, 1955. After moving to Sylvania, Ohio in 1962 with her parents and brothers, Henry & Thomas, Jr., she built a lifetime of memories in Sylvania. She attended Hillview Elementary School and graduated in 1973 from Sylvania High School.

Luann, Melissa and Allison started their journey on Convent Blvd, surrounded by a community who became family. Building a business in the insurance industry Luann purchased the Crockett Miller Insurance Agency and set out to be a fierce leader for herself sharing her passion for helping others through the community as well. Luann and her girls shared their time in the community with the Sylvania Chamber of Commerce, Olivet Lutheran Church and the Sylvania Schools. She retired from Knight Crockett-Miller after merging her agency.

Many will remember Luann for always wearing a smile, the door was always open in her career or in her home with her heart wide open. She was vibrant and her enthusiasm was contagious. Bright, inspirational, selfless, caring, remarkable, amazing, joyous, classy and beautiful are just a few of the ways to remember the imprint she’s left on all those blessed to have her in their life.

Luann’s pride and joy are her two daughters, Melissa Waters of Edgewood, KY and Allison & Ryan Ames of Sylvania, Ohio. She was a proud sister of Henry & Barbara Canham of Denver, CO and Thomas & Christine Canham, Jr. of Sylvania, OH. Her greatest title was grandma, nana or graham cracker to Claire, Riley, Carly, Cole, Henry, Haley, Elliana and Liam. An aunt to Nicholas, Tommy and Emily Canham.

The family will receive friends at the Reeb Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 18, 2025 from 3 pm until 8 pm. The memorial service will be at Olivet Lutheran Church on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at 2:00pm with a visitation one hour prior.  The committal service will follow at the Olivet Lutheran Church Garden of Peace.

Planting seeds, growing friendships, cultivating communities and nurturing relationships are what grew into Luann’s beautiful gardens of life.  In lieu of flowers, please consider the Care Closet, Allison and Luann seeded at Deveaux Elementary where Allison has been the Intervention Specialist for 23 years.   The Care Closet provides toiletries and clothing for students in need.
