Lois M. Sass passed away April 30, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Clenzo Lindau and Marie Lindau Hanna. Lois graduated from Libbey High School and began her business career working for the former Merchants Finance in downtown Toledo. When she married Dale J. Sass on August 21, 1948, her stepfather, Ellsworth “Al” Hanna, did the great honor of escorting her down the aisle. She was a stay-at-home mother who worked out of the house for several advertising firms and with the family often helping out. Lois was a loving nurturing mother to her eight children, especially her youngest son, Larry, who she took care of for many years following a traumatic head injury he suffered when he was 13 years old. Lois was a longtime member of Olivet Lutheran Church, where she served as a member of the Altar Guild for over 50 years.
Surviving to cherish Lois’ memory are her children and their spouses, Max and Linda Hoetzl, Bob and Deb Horvath, Bill and Nancy Hamilton, Tom and Eileen Sass, Larry and Barb Washing, Carol, Larry, and Janice Sass. Lois took considerable pride and joy in her grandchildren, Marie Hoetzl, Lisa Hoetzl, Dr. Kate Klein, Ryan and Amy Horvath, Sean Horvath, Joe and Amanda Sass, Dan Sass and Abby Jones, Allison Sass, Joshua and Julie South, Ashley Washing, Matt and Devin Washing, Steven and Laura Marcus, Allan Washing, Chris Brooks, Scott Sass-Brooks, and Kyle Brooks; as well as her great grandchildren, Niccolo and Angialetta Horvath, Josiella and Lucia Washing, Jaxson Dogan, Rudy Pigg, and Lucas Horvath. Lois is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
