Linda Huddleston Obituary

Linda Lee Gray Huddleston, age 74, passed away peacefully on April 6 after a courageous battle with leukemia. Linda graduated from Start High School in 1968 and became a “stewardess” for Braniff Airlines. Based in Dallas, this role gave her the opportunity to travel extensively, including many flights to Hawaii and across the United States. She later earned a Bachelor’s Degree from The University of Toledo and worked as a substitute teacher for Toledo Public Schools. An avid wellness advocate, Linda owned and operated one of Sylvania’s first low-carb health & nutrition stores, Lindy’s Low Carb Market. Above all, she was a devoted mother to her cherished daughter, Ali, and later reveled in the joy of being a grandmother.
When Linda met Bruce Huddleston at The Village Inn it was love at first sight. They married in 2006 and Linda considered their honeymoon motorcycle trek from Toledo to the Sturgis, South Dakota Bike Week rally one of the highlights of her life. More recently, Linda’s “happy place” was by Bruce’s side, whether aboard their sailboat, at the pickleball courts or simply enjoying quiet moments together at home.
Linda had a beautiful way of making every moment feel special. She filled her home with love, decorating for every holiday and hosting Girls’ Nights that were full of laughter, stories and friendship. Linda never met a stranger — her bright spirit, easy smile, and endless energy lit up every room she entered. She made people feel seen, welcome, and loved. Her circle of friends grew with every chapter of her life, a true reflection of the joy and light she gave so freely to the world around her.
She was a longtime member of North Cape Yacht Club, where she loved helping with special events. Linda and Bruce were a winning team both on and off the water. In 2023, they won the Race for Hope, benefiting cancer-related charities. In the 2022 Double Handed Race, Linda famously steered their boat, Bandit, to a comfortable second-place finish — all while holding her umbrella, a wine glass, and her little dog, Scootie.
Linda is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce Huddleston; her cherished daughter, Ali (Jeffrey) Bame, and her adored grandchildren: Drew, Brady, Josie, Hank, Trevor, and Tanner. She is also survived by her stepsons, Tony and Chris Huddleston.
