Lila Schmit Obituary

Lila Louise (Butler) Schmit passed away peacefully on Monday, March 24th at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She will be deeply missed by those she loved, especially her partner Charles Mowery, son Scott (Ann) Hartman, and son Gregory Hartman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Schmit, parents Thomas and Myrtle Butler, brother Charles Butler Sr., and sister Pamela Butler. She is survived by her siblings Thomas (Cookie) Butler Jr., David (Grace) Butler, sister-in-law Marilyn Butler, Christine (John) Mills, Jeffrey (Deborah) Butler, many nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Lila was born on October 25, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio. She graduated in 1959 from Olney High School in Northwood. She adored raising her two sons and worked as a secretary in various industries throughout her career. She loved to travel, spending many winters in Florida. She always enjoyed socializing with friends and was a long-time member of the Elks Lodge on Holland-Sylvania Road. Lila loved the simple things in life like visiting with her neighbors and sitting out on the deck with Charlie watching the birds visit her many birdfeeders.             

Visitation will take place at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania (enter off Summit St) Monday, March 31, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. A short memorial will begin at 6:30 pm. In lieu of flowers donations to Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
