Larry E. King, 78, of Holland, OH, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at home while under hospice care. He was born in Toledo, OH, on November 23, 1946, to parents Junior and Lucille (Abramczyk) King.
Larry contracted polio at seven years of age and became quadriplegic. This did not hold this remarkable young man back he graduated from high school and received his associate’s degree in computer science from the University of Toledo. Larry served as a computer programmer with the former Seaway Foodtown until the company was sold.
Larry later used his computing skills working with the Joy People, a group sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Toledo. He served as Treasurer and coordinated activities for the group’s many members. Larry volunteered in that position for more than 25 years and would have continued, but COVID struck.
Larry loved watching Jeopardy, often outscoring the contestants. He was a kind, loving individual who always had a smile on his face. Larry will be deeply missed by family and all those who knew him.
Those who cherish his memory are his sister, Sharon (Jessie) Slusher; brothers, Michael (Wanda) and Wayne King; 7 nieces and nephews; and a host of great-nieces and great-nephews. Larry took great pleasure in attending their school and extracurricular events. He was preceded in death by his parents and his great-niece, Faith Slusher.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date. Those wishing to offer memorials, in lieu of flowers, are asked to consider The Gideons International.
