Larry L Cox, 89, of Berkey, OH, passed away on January 21, 2025 at Blissfield Place. He was born on June 18,1935 in Berkey, OH to George A and Marjorie E (Dings) Cox, Sr. He married Selma K Nieman on September 21,1954 and together they raised 5 children.
Larry graduated from Burham High School in 1953. He was a “jack of all trades” including farming over 350 acres at one time, raising various farm animals, airplane mechanic, auto mechanic, builder and repairman. He built the family home. Larry owned and ran the LC Excavating. He worked at various places including The Westgate Dinner Theater as the head of maintenance and building the sets.
Larry loved Berkey, OH, living there his entire life, and played many roles over the years as the fire chief, constable, counsel member. He was a long-time member of Berkey Congregational Church. He also liked hunting, fishing and collecting antique tractors and guns.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Selma; children, David E (Marilyn Marok), Steven B (Cheri), Lauralee B (James Vellequette) O’Neil, Kimberlee R Larberg and Ryan L (Kim); many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews; and sisters, Kathryn Morris, Linda Burge and JoAnn Reber. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Dawn; son-in-law, Jeff Larberg; granddaughter, Jennifer O’Neil; and brothers, Donald, Thomas and George II.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 10 am until the funeral begins at 1 pm. Burial will follow at Berkey Cemetery. Donations in Larry’s name may be made to Berkey Fire Department or Keeler’s Korner Building Fund.
