Kurt Allen Hilfinger, 66, of Toledo, Ohio passed away Sunday, August 27, 2023. He was born on January 6, 1957 in Toledo, Ohio to Howard W. (Skip) and Margaret (Grein) Hilfinger, who pre-deceased him. He graduated from Sylvania High School in 1974 and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Bowling Green State University, Bowling Green, Ohio in 1980.
Kurt spent most of his professional career in the chrome plating industry. He was employed by Supreme Bumpers Inc. and General Plating Inc., companies where he had the opportunity to work with his father. He loved working with his father; although sometimes challenging, he said it was his most enjoyable job. Later in his career he held various positions with other companies, including General Manager, Plant Manager and Quality Control Manager. His expertise in the industry was valued by many organizations, employing him to manage special projects to help improve their profit margins and production operations. Kurt was very proficient in all plating operations and well known throughout the industry.
Kurt loved his Michigan Wolverines (Go Blue!) and all Detroit sports teams (Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, Pistons), attending many games throughout his life, especially at the Big House. He was an avid golfer and played most every course in Northern Michigan. His favorite place to be was at Wolf Lake, Baldwin, Michigan, where he spent many summers and holidays with his family enjoying the “lake life” and beautiful sunsets. He loved being with family, doing anything, especially playing Euchre and staying up late into the night so he could claim he was the winner.
Four years ago, he met and fell in love with Dalia Cantu, and they made quite a team. She loved and cared for him at the end of his life’s challenges with selfless compassion.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving fiancé, Dalia Cantu; his brothers and sisters, Katie Camp, James (Naomi) Hilfinger, Steven (Cathy) Hilfinger, Sara (Mark) Jackson, and George Eric (Peggi) Hilfinger. Although Kurt did not have any children of his own, he considered his 14 nieces and nephews his children. He truly loved Amanda (Chris) Youkhana, Laura (Megan) Wallace, Emily (Chris) Platek, Samantha Hilfinger, Maggie (DJ) McPartland, Steven Camp, Andrew Hilfinger, Zachary (Brooke) Jackson, Jennifer (Stas) Futoransky, Michael Hilfinger, Matthew (Heather) Jackson, Anna (Jordan) Koppenhofer, Benjamin Hilfinger and Rachel Hilfinger.
