Kelly Lee Kurek (Hinz) 65 years old born January 24, 1959, passed away Saturday December 14, 2024, in Sylvania Ohio. My parents were Mother Carol J. Schultz (Scheonegge) deceased and father Merwyn H. Hinz deceased. Kelly was a resident of Sylvania Township, Ohio.
She graduated from Mason consolidated HS Erie MI and went to college at the University of Laverne to study music.
Kelly’s first job was at Dunkin Donut’s, she taught us how to make donuts at home the same way they did. Kelly had many jobs which gave her a wealth of experience and understanding of her follow man. Kelly joined the United State Navy in 1979. She had her own cleaning service for years in Corpus Christi Tx among other places, worked at Baron steel and wire, Merle Norman Cosmetics where she received several awards for her excellent service and salesmanship. This is just a few examples of the type of work Kelly did and what made her the unique and beautiful person we all grew to know.
Kelly was a dedicated patriot even before her enlistment but if you knew her you also know she was a huge Trump supporter and remained dedicated to her country. She enlisted in 1979, was honorably discharged 1990 from the U.S. Naval Reserves. Kelly was an aircraft mechanist and received many awards for her service. She spent time in San Diego Ca, Jacksonville Fl, Diego Garcia and Spain among others. She was a wealth of information due to all her experiences.
Over the years Kelly’s family grew smaller and smaller however she was surrounded with a large group of friends that loved her like family. Unfortunately, her daughter Stacy Hoffman died March 22, 2022, her daughter had 2 beautiful children that have been adopted. Her granddaughter Emilie and grandson Samuel, they are with wonderful families and are thriving well and she was able to visit with them as able.
She is survived by her sister Sandy Higham and husband aka “our Dennis “as she fondly referred to him, niece Brandy Harroun (Hinz) that was her companion and friend when Kelly returned to Ohio after serving her country and niece Renee Harroun. Our sister Denise and brother Steve are in heaven as are many others to greet our sweet Kelly giving her the peace and serenity she always strived for here on earth. She was a godly woman and she knew the word and spoke of it often teaching anyone that would listen.
I spoke of friends above and there are too many to name however I would be remised not to mention Jerry and Gorge her dear neighbors, Kelly her gal pal, Duane lifetime friend, Lisa Key Brown, Mike, Jeff and Acacia. She had extended friends that were cousins Jessie and family as well as Pam and her family. Too many to mention. I know in my heart she wanted to include everyone she ever knew because that is just how she was, however, I think she would be happy with my choices given limited space.
Dear sister, grandma, aunt and friend, you will be missed by everyone you ever touched but we know you’re in heaven which provides all of us with comfort. Anyone wishing to donate to the Wounder Warriors’ in honor of Kelly. Online condolences to reebfuneralhome.com
