On March 31, 2026, the rain finally broke and the sun shone through, bringing with it a radiant rainbow to take our beloved sister, mother, and friend Katherine home to the Lord.
Katherine (“Kathy”) was born on October 4, 1949, in Port Huron, Michigan to Patricia Martin and John Kavalick. Grandparents Margaret and Leslie Raish were a large part of Kathy’s upbringing, and she referred to them as “Mumma and Puppa.” Kathy enjoyed a rich childhood with her siblings Sherri and John Kavalick and Phil Tafelski.
Upon graduation from high school, Katherine made her way to Toledo, Ohio, where she met her future husband William R. Lindsley. Together, they had three children: Patrick, Ashley, and Erin. Although Katherine and William decided to go their separate ways in 1988, they maintained a warm friendship and continued to celebrate holidays, birthdays, and graduations with their children and extended family. Their friendship is an example to all that love can endure despite differences.
Kathy was a great lover of music with favorites ranging from Motown to Doo Wop to Contemporary. She was a gifted crafter and gardener, and created beautiful wreaths, porcelain dolls, and costumes for her children.
She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, captivating smile, stunning style, and tremendous wit. Her last words, directed to her three children, were, “Make me laugh.”
Kathy is survived by children Patrick, Ashley and Erin Lindsley; Uncle Darryl (Bonnie) Martin; siblings Sherry Lynn and Phil (Cathy) Tafelski; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private family service was held at Toledo Memorial Park on April 6, 2026. A Celebration of Life will be held this summer at a date yet to be determined. Please join us in celebrating Kathy by sharing memories of her with the family.
