Karlene A. Jaquillard went home to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2023. Karlene was born October 31, 1945, in Toledo, Ohio to Karl and Dorothy (Wood) Jaquillard. The middle child between older brother Charlie and younger sister Glenna, Karlene grew up in Port Isabel, Texas, where she attended church weekly and sang in her high school choir. After graduating from East Texas State University with a Bachelor of Education, Karlene taught elementary school in southeast Michigan. In 1972, she began her long career at American Red Cross where she was Director of Youth Services Programs before eventually returning to teaching in a classroom after her retirement. For many years, Karlene volunteered for United Way, and she enthusiastically gave her time to the church up until her death.
Karlene was a world traveler, a cat lover, an art collector, a church-goer, a loyal daughter, a faithful sister, a caring aunt, a generous friend and a proud American. Karlene brought smiles and peppermints to all! Her love, laughter, and light will be missed.
Left to cherish Karlene's memory are brother, Charles Jaquillard (Shirley); nephews, LTC Charles Jaquillard (Ilira), Keith Knight, Chad Jaquillard, Nathan Westberg; nieces, Christa Morse (Ryan), Courtney Westberg; great-nephews, Chase Morse, Brandan and Logan Pearce, Michael, Henry and Justin Jaquillard; great-niece, Alysan Pearce and former sister-in-law Camille Jaquillard. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Glenna Westberg; brother-in-law, David Westberg.
Friends may gather at the Grace Lutheran Church, Toledo, Wednesday, January 10, 2024, from 10:00am until the Funeral Ceremony begins at 11:00am. At the conclusion of the service Karlene will be laid to rest beside her Mom at Ravine Ceremony.
