John I White, 63, of Riga, MI passed away peacefully on February 21, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Leukemia. Born September 11, 1959 to Don White and Liz (Seitz) of Ottawa Lake, MI. John graduated from Whiteford High School in 1978. After learning the meat cutting trade from his dad at Centre Market he went on to work at Provo Market and in 1984 went to work at Malcolm Meats. He remained with them, thru the merger with Sysco, until his retirement in 2015.
In 1991 John married Cynthia (Taylor) in Toledo, OH and was blessed with his daughter Katie and son Stephen. John enjoyed time with his family and pursuing various hobbies, including watching Nascar, hunting and fishing. In later years he especially enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son.
John is survived by his wife Cindy, daughter Katie, son Stephen (Aleasha), grandchildren Stephen Jr, Sawyer (Fouts) and Brinley. His sisters Sue (Meiring), Barbara and brother Robert, Aunts, Uncles, several nieces and nephews and a bunch of cousins. He was preceeded in death by his parents Don and Liz, his sisters Mary (Chmiel), Donna and Beth (Frome) as well as his niece Alyssa (Haun) and nephew Justin (Haun).
Per John's wishes, no funeral service will be held but a celebration of life will be held on April 8, 2023 from 2pm until 6pm at the Riga Township Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family asks any donations be make to the Precious & Free Foundation, https://preciousandfree.org/donations.
