John Franklin MacDonald

John Franklin MacDonald, age 91, died peacefully in Toledo, Ohio on November 3, 2021. He was a resident at Ohio Living Swan Creek. John was born October 8, 1930, at Mercy Hospital in Toledo of Herbert George MacDonald and Zena (Delp) MacDonald. He had a half-brother Edwin Leroy Holmes, a sister Arilla (MacDonald) Cousino, a brother Herbert Milton MacDonald, and 18 nieces and nephews. As a child, John attended Lagrange Elementary, Oakdale Elementary, and Central Avenue Elementary where he met Patricia Pieplow, who later became his bride. He graduated from Burnham Highschool in 1948 and went on to The University of Toledo where he received his BBA and MBA. He is in the Sylvania Highschool Hall of Fame for his accomplishments throughout his lifetime. He worked for 5 years for Owens Corning in their payroll department before joining his father-in-law's business, Oaks Feed and Pet Supply Co. which is still in business as Oaks Feed Company on Holland Sylvania Rd south of Bancroft. He later bought the business and ran it until he retired, then sold it to its present owner. He joined the U.S. Naval Reserve in July of 1948 and spent 35 years in the reserves retiring as (06) Captain at retirement. John married Patricia Ann Pieplow on November 1, 1952. Pat still resides at Ohio Living Swan Creek. John was a member of Westgate Chapel for over 25 years and Toledo Post #335, where he was at one time Commander. He is survived by his children Pamela Ann (MacDonald) Forbush, Jacquelynn Sue (MacDonald) Pastorek, and Diana Lynne (MacDonald) Shaw. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, Monday, November 8, 2021 from 4-8:00 P.M. where funeral services will be held Tuesday November 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M.
