John Richard Hill was born May 4, 1950, to Burdette and Irene Hill in Wauseon, Ohio. John passed away peacefully at home while holding down his chair on March 21, 2024. He graduated from Anthony Wayne High School in 1968. John always had a very strong work ethic. He worked for many years as a talented auto mechanic and a truck driver with an impeccable safety record before retiring in 2017. John Hill could hold a grudge like no other, but was always willing to share anything he had, and help anyone at any time. John was a simple man with strong conservative values. His favorite things included watching his granddaughters play various sports, eating American food and sweets, drinking Pepsi and smoking cigarettes. His greatest joy came from his family. He was very proud of his daughters and granddaughters. John was preceded in death by his parents, brother David Hill and nephew Brian Hill. John is survived by his wife of 46 years, Nancy, daughters Laurie (Didier) Jegaden, and Amber (Jason) Hammons, granddaughters Raegan and Kendall Hammons, siblings Alan (Maxine) Hill, Kenneth (Cathy) Hill, Marijane (Rick) Huffman, Penny Hill, and many nephews and nieces. The family would like to express their gratitude to neighbor Brian Scholl who helped John with anything asked of him during his illness. Special thanks to all of the doctors, nurses, therapists, and rescue workers who helped John over the last couple of years.
