Joanne (Domanski) Okuley, age 70, peacefully passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2024. She was born on October 14, 1954, to Raymond and Mary (Stasko) Domanski. She was raised in the Polish village and lived there until moving to Sylvania later in life. Joanne embraced and celebrated her Polish heritage and traditions throughout her life.
Joanne met the love of her life, Dick Okuley, while working at Pexco Packaging. Together, they raised their daughter and enjoyed a wonderful life together full of adventures, good times, and much laughter. They spent 37 years together until Dick passed away. From that day on, she missed him immensely and longed to see him again.
While being a wife and mother, Joanne decided to go back to college at 40 years old. She became a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant. She worked for many years in rehabilitation facilities and enjoyed helping others regain independence during some of their hardest times.
Joanne was a strong, determined woman with a heart full of love. She loved her family and friends tremendously. Cooking was an act of love to her. She felt most fulfilled when she was able to cook for others.
Joanne is survived by her daughter Paula, grandchildren Chase and Caitlyn, sister Kathy (Dennis) Danner, brother Daniel (Patricia) Domanski, and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Richard Okuley, her parents Raymond and Mary Domanski, brother Donald Domanski, and sister Patricia Schlagheck.
