Joann Deason, 74, of Maumee Ohio, passed away peacefully on June 18, 2026, surrounded by her girls. She was born September 5, 1951, to Jolene and Hobert Edwards in Central City, Kentucky.
Mom was a daughter, sister, friend, and the titles she cherished most were Mom, Meemaw and Ma. She loved her girls more than anything, they were the light of her life. Mom was a sweet, kind soul, she was selfless and was a friend to everyone. Mom spent some quiet time writing a book about her life, that we hope to share in the future.
Mom loved being a Meemaw to her Norah Bug. She was proud of the young lady that Norah is growing up to be. She loved spending time with her Norah and loved her more than “hogs love
slop”. Norah will always know that “Meemaw Loves!”
She had a special relationship with her son-in laws, Daniel and Scott. She loved them as her own and she was very proud of them for taking care of her girls, she knew she never had to
worry. Ma Loves!
Most recently, mom showed her unconditional love by filling a void in her girls and their sweet bonus mom, Lavonda’s life after the passing of her first husband, Jerry Paul Deason. Mom and Lavonda talked every day and formed a very special friendship.
Mom was a beautician, spending most of her career at the Magic Mirror, Regis, and JC Penney. During her career, she made a lot of friends who would often come to her home to get their hair
done. Mom enjoyed her springtime flowers, talking to all of her friends on the phone, a good smelling candle, having her apartment cozy, and watching her shows.
Mom is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Daniel) Wallace, Jerrah (Scott) Bushroe, her granddaughter, Norah Szteiter, grandson, Brayden Bushroe, her brother Elvis (Priscilla)Edwards and her good friends, Lavonda, Susan, Diane, Johnny, Dottie and Kris. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jolene Pendley and Hobert Edwards, along with her sisters Becky Carver, Darlene Edwards, her brothers, David Joe Edwards and Timothy Edwards, her beloved dogs, Colby and Poppy.
We are going to miss our mom and Meemaw for the rest of our lives. We are forever grateful for the nurses and physicians at UTMC who helped us through this incredibly difficult time.
Get some rest Mama, we love you.
