Jessica Barnes, 35, passed away unexpectedly, leaving behind a legacy of faith, compassion, and unwavering love for her family.
Jessica was born to Pamela Phelps and was a proud graduate of Central Catholic High School in Toledo. Throughout her life, she exemplified kindness, strength, and a genuine desire to help others.
Above all else, Jessica was a devoted mother to her beloved daughter, Autumn, who was the center of her world. Every decision she made and every goal she pursued was rooted in her love for Autumn and her desire to provide an example of faith, perseverance, and compassion.
Jessica's calling to care for others led her to pursue a career in nursing. She found great purpose in serving patients through her work with Mercy Health, where her deep Christian faith and passion for helping others came together. She viewed nursing as more than a profession—it was an opportunity to live out her faith by serving others with kindness, dignity, and love.
Jessica also had an incredible passion for running. She challenged herself to accomplish goals that many only dream about, completing ultramarathons and recently achieving one of her proudest accomplishments: finishing her first marathon at the Glass City Marathon and earning a qualifying time for the Boston Marathon. Her determination, resilience, and commitment inspired everyone who knew her.
When she wasn't caring for others or running, Jessica found peace in God's creation. She loved being outdoors and embraced every opportunity to enjoy nature, finding beauty and comfort in the world around her.
Jessica is survived by her cherished daughter, Autumn; her mother, Pamela Phelps; and her siblings, Eric, Jackie, David, and Jason, along with many extended family members and friends who will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Though Jessica's life was far too short, the impact she made will endure for generations. She will be remembered for her unwavering faith, selfless heart, remarkable determination, and the unconditional love she gave so freely. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched as a nurse, a friend, a sister, a daughter, and most importantly, as a loving mother.
"Well done, good and faithful servant." — Matthew 25:23
