Jeffrey B. Barnes

On Wednesday, January 15, 2020 Jeffrey Bruce Barnes, loving husband and father of four children, passed away at the age of 61.

Jeff was born on September 20, 1958 in Toledo, Ohio to Gerald and Jacquelin Barnes. A graduate of Whitmer High School and The University of Toledo, Jeff was a lifelong Toledo resident and a car salesman at Brondes Ford Toledo for 24 years.  On June 21, 1987 he married Jill Dohoney. They raised two sons and two daughters: Joshua, Jacob, Julia and Jennifer.

Jeff was passionate about breaking the mold of the typical car salesman. Brondes was more than his place of employment; they were his other family. He worked hard to take care of his customers; building trust and lasting friendships with generations. 

He was an avid grill-master, who as he self-described, “didn’t grill like most people.” He grilled for many family occasions and never heard a complaint.

His favorite place on Earth was Big Bear Lake, especially when spending time there with family and friends on vacation.  The lake was the one place he could always relax.

He loved playing cards and board games with family and friends and was always happy to do the job of keeping score. His favorite card game was pinochle which he enjoyed playing regularly with his children and in-laws.

During the past year, his greatest goal was to show Jesus to everyone that crossed his path. The strength from our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was what encouraged him to fight another day. If Jeff was able to get out of the house, his first priority was to get to church. 

Jeff was preceded in death by his father, Gerald. He is survived by his wife Jill, his four children:  Joshua (Sara), Jacob (Kristal), Julia (Spencer), and Jennifer, his grandson Jackson, his mother Jackie, his sister Candy, and many cousins. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 24, 2020 at McCord Road Christian Church from 4-7 pm. A memorial service will also be held at McCord Road Christian Church on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 10:00 am.
