Jeannette Kubitz Obituary

Jeannette Edith Kubitz, a beloved cornerstone of her family and community, passed away peacefully at the age of 99. Her long and beautiful life was marked by kindness, generosity, and an unwavering love for those around her. Born May 31, 1926, to Carl (Charles) and Anna (Peters) Kubitz. She lived in the house she was born until her recent move into assisted living.

She was a 1944 graduate of Burnham High School. She graduated on her 18th birthday and started to work the next day for the law firm of Greer, Lane and Downing. She continued to work for William E Downing until his death in 1987. She then worked as bookkeeper for Sylvania Municipal Court until just prior to her 72nd birthday. She was a charter member of King of Glory Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for 25 years. She was the treasurer and member of their council for over 40 years. She had a happy life! Thanks be to God!!

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters-in-law Arnold and Alberta Kubitz, Carl and Helen Kubitz, sisters Mabelle and Dorothy Kubitz, nephew Ronald (Louise) Kubitz, their son Jeffery Kubitz, and nephew Carl (Sandy) Kubitz.

She is survived by her special grandnieces Gina (Matt) Spradling, Lisa (Shawn) Tinkey and their families. Also, grandnephew Carl Kubitz and her grandniece Nadine Baker.

Jeannette loved God. She lived her life in faithful service, doing the work He asks of all of us—to love one another. Her faith was the foundation of her strength, her compassion, and her joy. She was a devoted member of her church, where she found deep connection and purpose.

Jeannette was the heart of her family, a guiding light whose warmth and presence brought joy to generations. Her great and great-great nieces and nephews cherished the time spent at her home, especially the treasured tradition of attending Christmas Eve Mass with her each year. Her home was a place of comfort, laughter, and love.

Known for her incredible thoughtfulness, Jeannette had a gift for making others feel special. Whether through a handwritten card, a unique gift, or a simple phone call, she always found ways to let her loved ones know they were in her heart. Her kindness extended beyond family to her many friends, neighbors, and her cherished church family.

Jeannette had a zest for life. She loved to shop, had a sweet tooth she never denied, and adored her cats. She was admired for her independence, yet she never hesitated to ask for help when needed—a quiet strength that allowed others the privilege of giving back to someone who had given so much.

She was a woman of wisdom, often sought out for her sharp political insights and sound financial advice. Her selflessness, humility, and deep compassion left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

Though it seems impossible to capture the essence of 99 extraordinary years in words, Jeannette’s legacy lives on in the hearts of all who knew her. She leaves behind a loving family, a devoted church community, and countless friends and neighbors who will forever cherish her memory.

Jeannette Kubitz was truly one of a kind—kind, generous, thoughtful, and deeply loved. She will be missed more than words can express. Friends may gather at King of Glory Lutheran Church, 6715 Brint Road, Sylvania, Ohio, on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., where the funeral ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m.
