Jeanne Carl passed away peacefully, February 13, 2024, at the age of 103.
She was born July 27, 1920, in Sylvania, Ohio and married the love of her life, Marvin Carl, October 17, 1942, just before he was drafted in World War II.
Jeanne was a 1938 Burnham High graduate and attended Davis Business College doing secretarial work at various places, including Electric Auto Lite, Packard Motor Car Co., Martin-Parry, A. O Smith and Kuhlman Engineering, retiring in 1957. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother and grandmother, loyal friend and dedicated to her family. Jeanne enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, playing cards, and dancing. She and her late husband, Marvin were actively involved in Historical Societies, Maumee Valley Walking Club, and numerous Western Round and Square Dance clubs for over 20 years.
She grew up in her parent’s restaurant in Sylvania in the thirties collecting recipes handed down over many generations and was working on a cookbook. Jeanne was also a public activist-fighting for basic human rights.
Preceding her in death, her husband, Marvin Carl, her parents, Ashley and Helen (Wyant) Vesey, and her sister, Arlene Vesey. Left to treasure her memory are daughters, Pam (Larry) Marter, Patti (Kirk) Lahey and Joyce (Bob) Garber, Grandson Keith (Marjorie) Marter, granddaughters, Shelly (Jim) Johnson, and Kelsey Lahey, and Great-Grandchildren, Amanda, Cory, Nathan, Celeste, and Claudia.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 20 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, Ohio. The funeral will be Wednesday, February 21 at 11:00 AM.
