Jean Arlene (Gentit) Beattie

Jean Arlene Beattie, 96, widow of Reverend Kenneth A. Beattie, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on  Saturday October 4, 2025,in Toledo, Ohio, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born November 18, 1928, in Stryker, OH to Harley and Mabel Gentit. Shortly after graduating from High School Jean married the love of her life, Kenneth Beattie, on June 12, 1948, and they were married for 63 years. They served together in ministry for 55 years and Jean was a shining example of what a Pastor’s wife should be through hospitality, serving others and passion for God’s Word. She was an avid member of Douglas Road Wesleyan Church for 36 years. Jean enjoyed reading books, camping and putting on delicious seven-course meals for her family.          

Jean is survived by children, Susan (Steve) Bentley, Shirley (Rodney) Stanton and Mark (Janine) Beattie. Jean had 10 grandchildren, and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenny and their infant child Ronald Kenneth Beattie.

Friends will be received at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 4-7 p.m. and on October 9, 2025 from 10-11 a.m., where the funeral service will be held on Thursday at 11 AM. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park. The service will be officiated by Pastor Steve Bentley of Douglas Road Wesleyan Church. The family would like to thank the staffs at Amada Senior Care, Alexis Gardens and Heartland Hospice for all of the loving care that they provided.
