Janet Helene (White) Keifer

Janet Keifer, 85, peacefully passed away at home on Thursday, December 2, 2021.  The past 12 years, she fought a long and hard battle following a stroke and now is at peace in the arms of Jesus.    Born in Toledo to Gertrude and Nelson White, Janet graduated from DeVilbiss High School and the University of Toledo with a degree in Education.  She married Joseph Keifer in 1959 at Glenwood Lutheran Church in Toledo.  Janet and Joe were married 62 years.  He has been her loving caretaker during the past 12 years enabling Janet to remain in her home.   Janet was a seventh grade Language Arts teacher at Fallen Timbers Middle School.  After retirement, she served on the State of Ohio Teachers' Association.  She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and sang in the choir.  During college, she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and became active in the alumni program.  She was an avid reader and loved spending time in her vegetable  and flower gardens.                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Janet is survived by her loving husband, Joseph; sister, Barbara Martig; daughter, Christine (Tim) Csurgo; sons, Timothy and Jeffery (Ann Marie) Keifer. Sister in-law Beth White, Grandchildren; Joshua(Lauren) Keifer, Ryan Keifer; Jake, Samantha, and Lauren Csurgo; and Braeden and Avery Keifer; Great Granddaughter; Reagan Keifer.  She also leaves behind many cousins, nieces and nephews.
