James Edward “Ed” Fritz passed away January 13, 2025, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Ebeid Center. Ed was born April 30, 1939 , to Maynad James and Gladys (Whalen) Fritz in Toledo, OH, Ed was a proud graduate of Whitmer High School class of 1958 where he was a member of the Acapella Choir and Student Manager of the Junior Varsity Baseball Team. Ed was awarded Perfect Attendance for the four years he attended high school, an achievement he was very proud of. After high school Ed attended Stautzenberger Business College and the University of Toledo. He was a long-time fan of Whitmer High School, University of Toledo and Ohio State sports teams. After college Ed worked for many years a s a professional salesman at Florshiem Shoes in Toledo before retiring. Ed devoted his retirement years to caring for his mother. Ed was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Chuck, Roger and Frank and sister-in-law Judy. Ed is survived by brother Tom (Mel), sisters-in-law Bonnie and Debbie, Becky, and many nieces and nephews and his dear friends Gloria and Jeff, who were a constant source of support in Ed’s life and in his final days. Also his best friend Alan Dearing who took him to lunch once a week and checked on him on a daily basis. All will continue to remember Ed for his sincere kindness, laughter and sense of humor.
