James A. “Wally” Walters, 79, of Riga, MI, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024, at home while under hospice care. He was born March 13, 1945, in Defiance, OH, to parents Lester and Lena Walters. Jim was a life-long farmer and truck driver before retiring.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan M. (Smith) Walters, whom he wed March 8, 1989; daughter, Stacey (Steve) Palmer; grandchildren, Grant, Morgan, and Miranda; sisters, Rachel Albright and Janice (Victor) Hillard; brother, Dale (Virginia) Walters; mother-in-law, Pauline Smith; sister-in-law, Amy Ambil; brother-in-law, Allen Smith; special niece, Jessica Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great-nephews too numerous to mention. Jim was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Zelma (Glenwood) Adams and Belva (Robert) Steward; brothers, J.C. (Donna), Leo (Darlene), Harvey (Betty), and Wayne (Ruth) Walters; brother-in-law, Eugene Albright, father-in-law, Richard Smith; sister-in-law, Judy Smith; brother-in-law, Willi Ambil; and special niece, Sarah Smith.
Jim’s family would like to thank caregivers, Jessica Smith, Amy Ambil, Ginnie Fleenor, and Becky Purser, for their loving care and support during this difficult time.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Friday, December 27, 2024, from 3:00pm until 8:00pm, where the Funeral Services will be held Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00am. Jim will be laid to rest at Riga Cemetery.
