James Jacob Schieb Sr. “Jim” unexpectedly passed away on December 3rd, 2024, at the age of 62. He was a friend, a brother, a father to five, and most importantly Pappy to 12 grandkids. He would do anything for the ones he loved. Jim had the biggest heart of any man. He would give you the shirt off his back or his last dollar if you needed it.
Jim was born to Carol (Rank) and Raymond Schieb on November 26, 1962, in Toledo OH. He grew up in Lambertville, MI as the youngest of three. Jim was married for 19 years to Therese (Wingate) and had five kids. Later in life he met his second wife Tracey (Shaw) they liked to watch Michigan games and spend time with friends and family.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Tracey (Shaw), and grandson, Davin Rubin. He is survived by his sister, Bonnie (Jeff) Schultz; brother, Ray Schieb Jr; Children, Elizabeth Schieb, Ashley (Carl) Riffle, James (Samantha Brooks) Schieb Jr, Robert (Danielle) Schieb, Clayton Schieb; Grandchildren, Hailey, Dawson, Logan, Christopher, Kylar, Calvin, Emree, Cody, Gracelynne, Harper, Rylee, and Alvin; and many nieces and nephews.
Jim would tell you the best part of his life was being a Pappy. He had a special connection with each one of his 12 grandkids. He loved to be around them just hanging out, baking, letting them paint his nails, yard work, wood working, or watching them at various sporting events. Jim had a tattoo of each grandkid’s name with “PLU” under to say Pappy loves you. He was so proud and bragged about them all the time.
Jim’s second home was Missi’s Sports Bar. He made many friends and considered most of them family. He enjoyed going up there to watch the Michigan, Tigers, and Lions. Every year for Christmas he played Santa for the Holiday party. He could be found sitting at the bar with a beer and shot of Old Granddad.
Services will be held December 11th, 2024, at Reeb Funeral Home 5712 Main St. Sylvania, OH 43560. Visitation begins at 11am and the service will start at 1pm. Luncheon to follow at Missi’s Sports Bar 2200 W. Alexis #D, Toledo, OH 43613. Jim wouldn’t want anyone to dress up for him, in his honor feel free to wear your Michigan, Tigers or Lions apparel.
