James Allen Reed

James Allen Reed, age 71, passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018. He was the son of Kenneth and Helen Reed and was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 15, 1947. Jim was a great husband, dad, and grandfather “Papa”.  He was a graduate of Devilbiss High School. Jim started his career in sales at Sears Roebuck & Co. He then went on to work in auto sales and finance at Brown Motor Sales, Knapp Motors and Northtowne Chevrolet. After retirement he continued with auto loan financing working from home for Croghan Colonial Bank.

Jim always had a love for cars. He was an avid fisherman who enjoyed nature. He looked forward to this time of year so that he could get outside, garden, and watch the birds. If he wasn't outdoors he was watching "Michigan Out of Doors", "This Old House", golf, or his Detroit Tigers. His skill and pride of cooking Sunday dinners brought us together as a family each week. He was fond of a good margarita which most of the staff at Venturas can attest too.  He and his wife took pleasure in their annual trip to Charlevoix to soak in nature's "Pure Michigan". Recently he delighted in having their new lakeside home built. Most of all Jim cherished the time spent with his family and close friends.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Helen, plus his other precious Mom "Pat", sisters Tess and Anne, plus numerous aunts and uncles.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Lin (Robison), daughters Wendy (Ayman) Barayseh and Angela (James), grandsons Andrew (Liz), Abe, and Jibril, sisters Vicki, Rita, Ceci, Jane and Kami too, and favorite sister- in- law Jan (John) Billis, plus plenty of close friends including KITTY.

Special thanks to the many doctors and staff at Flower Hospital and Inpatient Rehabilitation Center, UPMC, Lakes of Sylvania, and Ebeid Hospice Residence.

The visitation for Jim Reed will be held at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St., Sylvania, Ohio, on Sunday, May 13th from 4:00pm until 8:00pm with a service at 7:00pm. There will be a private interment service the following day for immediate family only. The family requests that memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.

We do not lose people. They die, but the love we shared with them can never be destroyed. They are a thread in our fabric, an ongoing influence in our life.
