James W Parks, 70, of Sylvania, OH, passed away Thursday, July 25, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born on December 3, 1953 in Baltimore, MD to William and Mary (Sehrt) Parks. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim was a pilot for 36 years for Owens Corning, retiring in 2015. "Big Jim" was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and pilot. Following in his father's footprints, he was proud Mason for 44 years, serving as the Worshipful Master in 1997, as well as being a member of The Zenboia Shrine, the Sylvania Moose and The Elks.
He never met a stranger he didn't turn into a friend. He loved traveling as a pilot, was the life of any party, full of laughter and wit, a foodie and one of the good guys. He will be missed by all who loved him.
Jim is survived by his wife, Jill Parks; daughter, Julie (Eric) Mastilak; sons, Casey (Sara Cordey) Maupin and James N Parks; grandchildren, Ashleigh Mastilak, Noah Mastilak, Andrew Mastilak and Ryder Maupin; sister, Janet (Jon) Ketchum; and nieces, Jennifer (Aaron) Beckstrom and Jackie (Jordan) Dillahunt.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 from 1pm to 5pm at Toledo Elks Lodge, 3520 N Holland Sylvania Rd, Toledo, OH 43615. A Mason Service will begin at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice in Jim's honor.
