James R. Meinert, 84, of Petersburg, MI. passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 2, 2021, while enjoying the outdoors at his home. He was born March 6, 1936, in Toledo to parents Russell and Della (Montague) Meinert. Jim was a lifelong sheet metal worker with Local 33. He was proud to have served with the United States Marine Corp Reserve. Jim was a member of the Samaria Masonic Lodge # 438 F&AM. He was a master of all trades. Jim was an accomplished builder and excavator. Once he retired, he operated Meinert’s Sawmill where he milled timber and created furniture for family and friends. An avid hunter: Jim’s happiest times were spent at his cabin in Lewiston, MI. surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of more than 64 years, Judy (Neuhaus) Meinert; daughters Kimberly (Scott) Swindeman, Kelly Masters, and Karen Klumm; sons James Jr. (Kathleen) and Timothy (Pamela) Meinert; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law Beverly Meinert. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and brothers William and Richard Meinert.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, Friday February 5th from 3:00 PM until 9:00 PM, the Funeral Ceremony will begin at 6:30 PM. Friends are invited to gather at the funeral home Saturday February 6th at 9:00 AM, before departing for Ottawa Hills Memorial Park, where Jim will be laid to rest.
