Guadalupe Florez, age 96, of Holland, Ohio, passed away at home on Saturday, June 2, 2018 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in San Antonio, Texas on July 30, 1921 to parents Juan and Nieves Ochoa. Lupe was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great-great grandmother. She had an incredibly caring nature, whose kindness reached far beyond her own family. She enjoyed gardening, loved The Ohio State Buckeyes, and cooking. She was known for her steak and gravy, refried beans and delicious flour tortillas—possibly the best in the state! She loved Mexican music and loved to dance. Lupe was a "Den Mother," a long time parishioner of St. Joseph's church in Sylvania, Ohio, and was also a "Gold Star Mother." Lupe worked at Brodbeck Greenhouse for more than twenty years and worked many years for Mr. Herbert Trabbic. Lupe was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Maria, Susie, Alex, Paul, Adelina, Rebecca, and Reyes; son PFC Frank Ochoa Florez Jr., daughter Norma-Jean, two infant daughters, one infant son, and granddaughter Rose Marie Faz. Lupe leaves behind daughters Caroline Faz, Lupe (Elizar) Lizcano, son Michael (Lisa) Florez, and daughter Theresa Florez; 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 1 great-great granddaughter and 4 siblings.
A Funeral Mass will be conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church 10:00 am Thursday June 7, 2018 followed by interment at Ravine Cemetery in Sylvania, Ohio.
Lupe's family would like to thank Grace Hospice nurses Steve McAnally, Cindy Bohland, Crystal Booko, Lisa King, social worker Deann Stokes, pastor Lorraine Niboro and Dr. Kathleen Luce for their loving care.
"Mom, we will carry your light in our hearts. Until we meet again. We love you."
