Gregory Forrester Obituary

Gregory “Greg” Forrester, 61, of Perrysburg, OH passed away at St. Vincent Medical Center on April 24, 2023. He was born March 2, 1962 in Toledo, OH. Greg met Trish Rigby at the age of 16 and they were married on December 17, 1988. Together they raised 3 children.

Greg graduated from Northview High School in 1980 where he ran cross country and wrestled and then attended Ohio University. After beginning his career in the steel industry, his determination and persistent personality allowed him to start his own successful steel company, Toledo Steel Supply. With Greg’s aggressive personality, he took a small shop and turned it into one of the largest steel plate suppliers in the Midwest. The amazing, quick growth of the company is a true testament to Greg’s high-energy, go-getter style. He surrounded himself with hardworking, loyal employees who admired and respected his drive and vision. Greg took great pride in knowing his employees had confidence in his ability to provide and mentor them.

Aside from the business, Greg had many other passions. When their children were young, a cottage at Devil’s Lake was enjoyed by his entire family and friends. He loved bringing people together to enjoy water skiing, jet skiing, tubing, snowmobiling and moments spent around the bonfire. Eventually, he wanted to be on a larger lake, so the family went off to Catawba Island where they became members at CIC. There he enjoyed boat trips throughout the Great Lakes, making life-long friends along the way.

Greg and Trish bought a home in the Florida Keys, where he enjoyed fishing, boating, quality time with the family and again, making an abundance of new friends. He also loved their home on Lake Charlevoix where he continued boating, riding his side-by-side, and grilling for the family. And of course, more friends were added to the list.

His hobbies were endless. His performance sport cars, RV’s, boats and motorcycles were just a few. The family took many trips together to exciting destinations, including the Caribbean, Hawaii, Vail ski trips at Christmas, while making life-long memories.

Greg’s generous and adventurous spirit will continue to live through his family. No one forgets meeting Greg Forrester; he was one of a kind. Greg also gave the gift of life through organ donation.

Greg is survived by his loving wife, Trish; children, Andrew, Abbey and Ava; mother, Pat Forrester; siblings, Tom (Ruth) Forrester, Julie Forrester and Patrick (Donna) Forrester; and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death was his father, Tom Forrester.

Visitation will be at the Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be at St. Rose Catholic Church, Perrysburg, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
