Georgia Mae Bowling "Georgie", 89, of Adrian, passed away June 20, 2024, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee at Charlotte Stephenson Manor in Adrian.
She was born March 4, 1935, in Grimsley, Tennessee, the fifth of ten children to Herman and Lizzie Turner Monday. Georgie was the first of her siblings to be born in the log home built by her daddy.
From an early age, Georgie learned the value of hard work, a trait that carried her throughout her life. She took great pride in being part of the 1951 Tennessee state-winning girls' basketball team.
On Feb. 6, 1961, she married James Bowling in Tennessee. They shared 52 years of love and laughter until his death on Dec. 25, 2014.
Georgie dedicated 35 years of her career to General Mills. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Tennessee, where they enjoyed 10 happy years before relocating to Adrian, Michigan, to be closer to their grandchildren.
She was a loving and generous mother, wife, daughter, mammaw, great-mammaw, sister, and aunt, who found joy in spending time with her family.
Georgie is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Tom) Woodward; her grandchildren, Leigha (Brandon) Murphy, Koda Woodward, and Larissa (Joseph) Song; her great-grandchildren, Athena and Alexander Murphy, and Faye Song; and her brother, Paris Monday.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Bowling; her great-grandson, Xavier Murphy; her brothers, Alex, Gene, Lee Glenn, and Henry; and her sisters, Verda, Gladys, Maggie, and Vicie.
A visitation will be held at Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, Ohio, on Thursday, June 27th. Visitation is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Funeral services are to follow with Bro. Jeffery Monday officiating. Burial will take place at Ottawa Hills Cemetery.
