Georgia Rongakis, age 64, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 3, 2025. She was born on August 19, 1960, in Southgate, Michigan, where she lived for 18 years. After graduating from high school, she moved to Toledo, Ohio in 1978, where she met the love of her life, Xristos, at an AHEPA dance. They married on April 27, 1980, where they began their beautiful journey together. Georgia then became a proud and devoted mother to her two children, Jim and Leah. She embraced motherhood with joy and grace, filling her family’s lives with fun, traditions, and unforgettable memories. Always determined and ambitious, in 1995 she returned to school to pursue and achieve a degree as a Registered Pharmacist from the University of Toledo.
Georgia will be remembered for her radiant smile, her infectious laugh, and her deep, abiding love for her friends and family. She never said no to a beach vacation, and loved visiting her friends and family in Greece every chance she could get.
Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, Nondas and Evangelia Karabogias. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 45 years, Xristos; children, Jim (Victoria) and Leah (Matthew) Simko; loving grandchildren, Jackson, Olivia, Christian, and Antoni; siblings, Nick and Elaine; and a host of cousins and life-long friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, June 8, 2025 at Reeb Funeral Home (5712 Main St. Sylvania) from 4:00 pm - 8:00 pm where Trisagion prayers will be offered at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 9, 2025 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral (740 N Superior St. Toledo) at 11:00 am followed by interment at Toledo Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Toledo, Ohio.
May her memory be eternal.
