George Neuendorf Obituary

George H. Neuendorf, 98, of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Elizabeth Scott Community.  He was born July 8, 1920 in Toledo, OH to George and Magdalena (Helmer).  He married Helen L. Hawley on July 18, 1948 and together they raised 4 sons.

George graduated from Macomber Vocational School.  He worked in the toolroom at Bunning Brass, was a bus driver for Toledo Traction Co., and a building operator for Toledo Public Schools.  George was in the Army during World War II and received many military decorations and citations including the American Theatre Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Ribbon and the Victory Medal.  He was a member of the NRA, Veterans of Foreign Wars, The Conn Weissenberger American Legion Post 587 and a life long member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church on North Erie.  Two of his greatest accomplishments in sports include a converted 7 -10 split in bowling and a hole in one in golf.  He loved all sports but especially loved fishing and watching his children and grand children’s many activities.  The most important thing to George was his loving family and he will be greatly missed by them.

George is survived by his sons, William (Meridy), Douglas, David (Lisa) and Trace (Amy); 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and brother, Robert (Peggy). He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary (Stanley) Spitza and daughter-in-laws, Janet and Susan.  

Visitation will be at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 Main St., Sylvania, OH on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 10 am until 11 am when the funeral service will begin.   Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
