George Robert Foldvary

George R. Foldvary, age 88, of Ottawa Lake, MI, passed away Saturday April 23, 2022, at Hickory Ridge, Temperance, MI.  He was born March 10,1934, to Mary (Fargo) and George Foldvary in Toledo, Ohio.  He graduated from Macomber Vocational High School in 1953.  George married Kathleen Marie Werner at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Toledo May 16, 1969. They celebrated 53 wonderful years together.  He worked for AT&T in the telecommunications department for 25 years retiring in 1976. After retirement he worked for Cassens and M&G Convoy as a car hauler and retired again in 1999, after 25 years of service. George also volunteered at Bay View Retirees Golf Course in Toledo and belonged to Catholic War Vets # 1675, St. Jude Thaddeus Post.

George was first and foremost, a loving husband and father who enjoyed nothing better than getting together with family and friends.  He was known for his quick wit and laugh.  His many talents included building with wood, classic car restoration, solving automotive technical problems.  He loved to fish, boat, collect classic cars, golf, camp, go out to eat, attend car shows and swap meets, and he enjoyed camping in Florida during the winter months.

George is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen “Kathy”; children, Lyn (Don) Woodbury, Libbi Jo (Michael) Bachar, Richard George Foldvary, Amy Lynn (Ed) Quijada, and Michael Owen (Jennifer) Foldvary; 14 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren, and sister Ann Marie (Tom) Kubicz. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Sheldon and Victor Foldvary; sisters, Donna Jean Sass, Judy Jones and brother Garland “Butch” Foldvary. 

Family and friends may gather at the Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, Wednesday April 27, 2022, from 4-7:00 P.M.  The funeral mass will be conducted at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Sylvania, Thursday April 28, 2022, at 10:00 A.M.  Interment to follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
