George Frederick Donnelly

George F Donnelly, 85, of Waterville, Ohio passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at Elizabeth Scott Community. George was born on October 19, 1939 in Toledo, Ohio to George C and Anetta E (Ebel) Donnelly. He married Marie on May 5, 1962 and together they raised 3 sons. George graduated from Burnham High School in 1958 and served in the Air National Guard as a munition’s loader stationed in Toledo, Ohio. He worked for Columbia Gas for 37 years as an area plant supervisor, and for Jim Wing Plumbing Company as a
service driver. He was a former member of the Sylvania Moose 1579 and Riverview Yacht Club. George enjoyed fishing, hunting and working on cars, especially building his 1923 T-Bucket with his 3 sons. He loved driving it around and taking it to car shows, loving all of the attention and compliments he got from it. Most of all, George loved being with his family. He shared many memories with all of us, and we created memories of our own, from vacationing in Cedarville, Michigan every summer to teaching us enough to keep us out of trouble. For our family dinners and holidays, George and Marie always making the German Potato salad, the spaghetti and meatballs, or those amazing baked beans and the hobo (boiled) dinners to which he would always remind everyone “If you go home hungry it’s your own fault!” George held a special place in his heart for all of their pets over the years - Star, Shadow, Scosha, Ersha and all of the Grand-doggers and had a great love for Labrador retrievers.
George is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Marie; sons, Shawn (Michelle), Scott (Kelly) and Erin (Amy); grandchildren, Shane (Brittany), Michael, Zachary (Renee), Rachel (Brad), Emily (Jake), Brock (Melanie), Zachary (Nicole), Brady, Owen and Meghan; great grandchildren; Blair, Parker, Allison and Scarlett; and brother, Ernie (Joyce) Donnelly. George was preceded in death by his parents.    
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, OH, on Friday, November 22, 2024, from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm when the funeral service will begin. Interment will be Saturday, November 23rd , 11:00 A.M. at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
