Gene A. Lowe, who was fondly known as Igor by his friends, was 71 when he passed away on July 31, 2023, at Flower Hospital. He was born on September 27, 1951, and was raised by his parents, Leonard and Martha Lowe, in Toledo, OH. Gene married Patricia Snyder in 1969 and they enjoyed over 52 years together, until her passing in 2022.
Gene worked for over 30 years at Erie Steel. After he retired, he enjoyed meeting people while driving the parts truck part-time for Brondes Ford. Gene was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians. He loved spending time at the cottage on Hemlock Lake with his family and friends for over 30 years. Gene loved to cook for people and specialized in chili and ribs.
During a recent illness, Gene benefited from the compassionate care of the ICU staff on the 4 th floor of Flower Hospital. The family expresses their gratitude to the nurses and doctors that cared for him.
Gene is survived by his children, Beverly (David) Woodbury and Christopher (Carrie) Lowe; grandchildren, Angela Garza, Becca Woodbury, Kaleb and Kaeli Lowe: great-grandchildren, Addy and Skylar Garza: and two brothers, Jerry and Paul Lowe.
Visitation will occur at the Reeb Funeral Home in Sylvania, OH on Friday, August 4, 2023, beginning at 12pm until the funeral service begins at 2:30pm. In Lieu of flowers, donations in Gene’s name may be given to the Autism Alliance of Michigan, 26913 Northwestern Hwy, Ste 520, Southfield, MI 48033.
