Eugene L. Hill

Eugene L. Hill, 94, of Toledo, OH, passed away Saturday, July 10, 2021 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born August 10, 1926, in Nevada, OH, to John and Gail (DeJean) Hill.

Eugene proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy assigned to an Amphibious Landing Craft Vessel during WWII. He married Ella Poupard in 1947 and enjoyed 60 years of marriage until her passing in 2007.

Eugene worked as an auto mechanic at Kistler Ford for over 33 years. He was one of the first at Sylvania Recreation to coach baseball. He also was an avid Detroit Tigers baseball and Lions football fan, enjoyed woodworking and loved animals, especially his Chihuahua, “Tiger”.

Eugene is survived by his loving sons, Rick (Starlett) and Larry (Charmaine) Hill; eight grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Penny Martinez. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Matthew; and his canine companion, Tiger.

Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, OH, Wednesday, July 14, 2021, from 4 pm to 8 pm with the Funeral Service at the funeral home Thursday, July 15, at 11 am. Interment to follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
