Elmer Leroy Engle, 86, passed away in his home Monday, February 2, 2026. He was proud to be the oldest living male in his family. Elmer was born in Toledo, Ohio, to parents Elmer D Engle and Sally Speiser. He grew up in the Children’s Home in Maumee, Ohio, and attended Maumee High School. Elmer joined the Navy at age 18 and served 4 years. After proudly serving his country, he began working at Textile Leather where he retired after 39 years of service. While at Textile Leather he played and eventually coached a workplace softball team for men. They won 3 Championships in 1995, 1996, and 1997. Elmer and his wife Sharron took countless trips to Brason. Each time bring a different group of family members. He also loved going to the casino and playing poker.
Elmer will be remembered by many for his endless jokes, wonderful stories, and love for his family.

Elmer is survived by his loving wife that cared for him for many years, Sharron M. Engle; daughters, Sherri (Creed) Rollins, Carrie (Nacho) Gonzalez, Robin (Carl) Rust, and Virginia Engle; son, Tracy Engle; stepson, Earl (Jessica) Oswald III; brother, James (Connie) Speiser; 13 grandchildren; and 9 great grandchildren.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers; and sister.
Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home 5712 N. Main St. Sylvania, Ohio, Monday February 9, 2026, from 11:00am until the Funeral Ceremony begins at 1:00pm. Elmer will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park at the conclusion of the service.
