Elizabeth “Betty” Rose McCormick passed away peacefully on October 21, 2024, at the age of almost 100. She was born in Flint, Michigan on November 26, 1924, the daughter of Peter and Rose (Prohaska) Baibos, sister of the late Eva (Edward) Macko and late Alfred (Clara Jean) Baibos. She lived most of her childhood in Sterling, Michigan. She married Robert “Bob” James McCormick on July 6, 1946, and they celebrated 70 years of marriage before he passed away in 2017. After living in several cities, she and Bob were transferred to Dalton, GA. They loved it and continued to live there after his retirement for many years. Three years ago, she moved back north to Sylvania, OH to be closer to her family. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Elaine and Allan Meyer; sons and daughters-in-law, James and Melissa McCormick; and John McCormick and Kathleen Malloy She was dearly loved by four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Mark) Ehrler, Jeffrey (Jessica Halliwell) Meyer, Katie (Michael) Macfarlane and Erin (Nathan) Davies. She was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Nathalie and Sylvie Ehrler; Leah, Lindsay, Robert and Nicholas Meyer; Cameron and Joel Macfarlane; and Benjamin, Lucas and Tessa Davies. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and very dear friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, November 18 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 5411 Main Street, Sylvania, Ohio 43560, with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. If desired, memorial donations may be made to St Joseph Church Memorial Building Fund, Sylvania, OH or St. Vincent de Paul in care of St. Joseph Church, 968 Haig Mill Road, Dalton, GA 30720.
