Douglas Creque Obituary

Douglas Allen Creque of Toledo, Ohio (5/27/1949) died at St. Anne’s Hospital. Navigating through chronic kidney failure for over 15 years and procrastinating starting dialysis for months, Doug was able to exit this life well prepared when he died suddenly on October 23, 2024. A graduate of Whiteford High School (1967), Doug went to Central Michigan University, but dropped out in 1969, to enlist in the US Army during the Vietnam war. Mom was so very mad at him, but as luck would have it, he served stateside as a Military Police officer his entire stint. Once out of the service, he went on to complete his degree at MSU.

Doug is survived by his dog, Blue – one of many canine friends that blessed his life. Also, surviving his are sisters, Carol Abdo (Howard Baldwin), Mary Kim (Gary) King, Michelle (Chris) Donnelly, and 3 brothers, Thomas, Michael and Richard. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty and Dick Creque of Ottawa Lake, Mi, and his oldest sister, Darlene Stansley of Sylvania, Ohio.

He sent this to me on Sunday, “Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, “Wow! What a Ride!”" Hunter S. Thompson, The Proud Highway.

Per his request, there will be no services. Contributions to Doug’s memory may be made to Toledo Area Humane Society, where he found some of his best friends, Lucy and Lucky, Amos & Andy, and now Blue.
