Dorothy Jean Strouse, 83, passed away on February 5, 2024, in Bradenton, Florida. She was born on December 22, 1940, in Lambertville, Michigan, and lived most of her life in the Toledo, Ohio area. She attended Lott Day School, and from there she began working as a teacher’s aide at Heffner and Larc Lane schools starting in 1960, and then in the cafeteria at Lucas County MRDD. At the time of her retirement after 47 years in 2007, there was only one other active employee with a longer tenure. Dorothy attended church services at Advent Lutheran Church in Sylvania with her family.
Dorothy moved to Beverly Hills, Florida in 2007 with her older brother, sister-in-law and younger brother, where she was enrolled in the Key Training Center adult day training program. While there, she worked at their thrift stores and enjoyed many activities, including bowling and other social events.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Melvin, Robert and Larry Strouse, and her parents, Willard and Clara (nee Jones) Strouse. She is survived and dearly loved by nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Dorothy will be interred at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, Ohio with her parents and two of her brothers. A visitation will be held at 10 AM with a memorial service to follow at 11 AM. Saturday, March 9th, 2024, at Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main Street, Sylvania, OH 43560.
