Dorothy Anne Bartish (Begala) 1940-2025
Born in Roseland, NJ. Dorothy graduated from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio, where she met her husband, Jim. They married in 1962 and just celebrated their 63rd anniversary. Having resided in Painesville first, Dorothy was a High School French teacher, then moved to Toledo OH in 1970 where they raised their family and lived for over 50 years in the same family home. Recently, they retired and moved down to Tennessee to be near her daughter Suzie and her family.
Dorothy was active in her community, enjoyed being a Cub Scout Den leader, a Brownie & Girl Scout leader, tennis player, and playing in her Bridge Club. She helped run her husband’s business, (L.James Bartish & Assoc.) planned many meetings and tours with their Car Club, the VMCCA (also a member of the National Woodie Club) having had loads of fun with friends and family traveling many states from Minnesota to Maine in their 1948 Chevy Woodie Wagon. She also loved summer vacations visiting friends and family in Rhode Island and the Jersey Shore.
Dorothy is survived by her husband Jim (Louis James), children Leigh James Bartish (Evelyn), Suzanne Christensen (Chris), Laura Pippin, and grandsons Jakob and Kyle Christensen. She is preceded by her parents Edward and Emma Begala (Kranich) and brother David.
Friends and family may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH. Wednesday October 1, 2025, from 4:00 P.M-8:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held Thursday October 2, at 11:00 A.M. at Reeb Funeral Home followed by the internment at Toledo Memorial Park.
