Donald Gagnon Obituary

Donald W Gagnon, age 87, of Sylvania, passed away at his home on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Don was born August 17, 1936 in Toledo, OH to Alvin and Virginia (Geller) Gagnon. He married Joyce Laibe in 1965.

Don graduated from Burnham High School in Sylvania where he played golf and football. He attended Ohio University for 2 years before transferring to and graduating from Bowling Green State University receiving a Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in chemistry.  He also played golf for both universities.  Don served in the United States Marine Corp at Camp Lejeune after graduation.

Don started his career as a chemist for Owens Illinois where he was granted many patents.  He continued his career at the Tech Center at the University of Toledo, retiring from Wacker Chemical in Michigan. 

Don was a long-time member of Highland Medows Golf Club and Inverness Country Club, having many holes-in-one. After retirement, Don and Joyce spent their winters in Ft. Myers living and playing golf at Fiddlesticks County Club.

Don is survived by his loving wife, Joyce; sister, Sue Greeley and her children, Greg, Brad (Peggy), Troy (Wendy), Chad and Amy; sisters-in-law, Aldeen Wilford, Arvil (Gaylene) Warren; brother-in-law, Mark (Michelle) Laibe and many nieces and nephews-in-law. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
