DIANE HERING WINSLOW
(1943 – 2023)
We are heartbroken to announce the sudden passing of my beloved wife, Diane Winslow, on May 4, 2023, in Cincinnati. Diane was well loved and an incredible role model on how to persevere through life’s challenges and remain positive and life loving. She had a great love for her family and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Diane taught in Toledo Public schools for 3 years and Springfield public schools for 32 years in the second and third grades. She also earned a Reading Recovery degree from The Ohio State University to become a reading specialist. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania and moved to Cincinnati in 2021 to be closer to her children and grandchildren.
Married to Terry (Wietrzykowski) Winslow for 57 wonderful years and was the mother of Pamela and Jeffery(JP) Winslow; the daughter of Verne and June Hering, both deceased; grandchildren Zander, Crew, Cruz, Isaiah, Sara and Ben; brother Jim Hering (Amy) and sister Joanne Booth (Mike); nephews Mitch Hering, Chris, Robert and Steve Wietrzykowski and nieces Lisa Burton and Leslie Booth (deceased).
Diane was a South-ender, graduating from Libby in 1961 and the University of Toledo in 1965 with a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education, and a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Her love of children made her an outstanding teacher over the course of 35 years. She was also an accomplished artist and painter in spite of her battle with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
A memorial service will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Sylvania, Ohio on Friday, June 9 at 10:00 AM for a gathering, and a Funeral mass at 11:00 AM followed by a reception luncheon at Te’Kela’s in Sylvania, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations in Diane’s memory to the Arthritis Foundation. Online condolences to reebfuneralhome.com.
