Dennis Sheldon Meadows

August 3rd, 1952 - June 14th, 2024

Dennis Sheldon Meadows, affectionately known as "Denny," passed away on June 14th, 2024, at the age of 71 Born on August 3rd, 1952, Denny grew up in Toledo, Ohio, the beloved youngest son of Jackson and Sarah Jane Meadows, both of whom preceded him in death. He was also preceded by his two brothers, Danny and David Meadows.

Denny graduated from Whitmer High School in Toledo in 1971, where he began to showcase his remarkable talents as a carpenter. His career took flight at Good Displays, where he crafted innovative presentation displays for various companies alongside his brother-in-law and best friend, Mark Neville, who passed away in 2021. Together, Denny and Mark built many houses around the Bowling Green area, leaving a lasting legacy of their craftsmanship. In 1991, Denny and his late wife Cindy (Neville) Meadows, who passed away in 2010, relocated to Port Charlotte, Florida. They shared 33 wonderful years together, building an amazing life filled with love and joy. In Florida, Denny continued to make his mark, eventually working in Facilities Maintenance for Charlotte County until his retirement in 2017.

Denny’s life was characterized by his boundless generosity and skill. He frequently undertook odd jobs for friends and family, one most memorable was the creation of extraordinary set pieces, including a moving car for a Port Charlotte High School’s theatre production in which his daughter, Nicole, participated. A man of many talents, Denny was also an excellent dancer and singer with a deep love for rock and roll, which brought immense joy and laughter to his family over his passionate lip-syncing and air guitar antics.

During his younger years in Toledo, Denny enjoyed playing softball with the local Carpenters 1138 team alongside his best friends, Mark Neville and Ken Dunn, and his cousins, Scott Dow and Rex Strong. His hobbies extended to golf, pool, poker, and card games, and he was a passionate Ohio State football fan. His love for Florida was evident in his enjoyment of fishing and boating. However, those who joined him on boating trips often joked about Denny’s tendency to run out of gas, turning many outings into memorable adventures.

Additionally, Denny always enjoyed traveling. Alongside his beloved partner Karen Foos, he visited beautiful destinations such as Australia and Scotland, creating cherished memories. Their journeys together brought them immense joy and adventure.

For the past eight years, Denny shared his life with Karen Foos, his partner and love. Their relationship was a source of profound happiness and mutual support. Karen’s extended family also held a special place in Denny’s heart, and he cherished the bonds he formed with them.

Denny was known for his infectious positivity and his radiant smile. He had an unshakeable faith in God and Jesus, which guided his life and actions. A gifted storyteller, Denny had a knack for entertaining and bringing laughter to those around him. He was silly, kind, and quick to forgive, always seeing the bright side of life. He often said that worrying was as futile as howling at the moon, suggesting that sometimes a good howl could be more therapeutic.

Denny is survived by his loving daughter, Nicole MacKenzie, her husband Aiden MacKenzie, and his cherished granddaughter, Grace MacKenzie. He also leaves behind his devoted partner of the last eight years, Karen Foos.

Denny will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of joy, laughter, and love will continue to resonate with the many lives he touched. His hugs were legendary, and his spirit will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Online condolences to reebfuneralhome.com
