Dawn Seney, 75, of Sylvania passed away peacefully on Friday, March 1, 2024 with her children by her side. She was born December 1, 1948, in Archbold, OH to Maurice and Edna (Merillat) Hootman. Dawn graduated from Archbold High School in 1966 and Adrian College in 1970 where she attended on a National Merit Scholarship. She earned her Masters in Education from the University of Toledo in 1975.
Dawn joined Sylvania Schools during the fall of 1970 and dedicated a total of 35 years to nurturing young minds as a beloved kindergarten teacher before retiring in 2012. Dawn was most passionate about her family and was the most loving, caring, patient and supportive person in their lives. In 1975 she married the love of her life and husband of 37 years, Jim Seney, and soon thereafter the first of their four children together were born. Dawn found joy in motherhood, actively nurturing and supporting her children in their various pursuits. As they reached adulthood, she continued to treasure their time together and cherished moments with her grandchildren. She also loved visiting with her sisters, lunches and card games with friends, playing along while watching Jeopardy, competitive games of Trivial Pursuit, volunteering in the community, and taking her loyal canine companion Daisy on neighborhood walks.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maurice and Edna Hootman, her loving husband, Jim Seney, and stepdaughter, Meg Clark. She is survived by her children, Todd Seney, Matt (Christy) Seney, Jack Seney, and Allison Seney; stepson Josh Seney; grandchildren, Emerson, Kate, Hayes, and Ryan; sisters Nancy (Jamie) Harris, and Joanne (Larry) Purk; and many other loving relatives.
Visitation will be at the Reeb Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 5pm until 8pm. The funeral will be at Reeb Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at 10:30am. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery
