David William Schupp

David William Schupp of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022, at the age of 71. David was born on November 11, 1950 to Clarence and Genevieve Mary (Clifton) Schupp who preceded him in death. He attended St. Clement’s Catholic School where he participated in Boy Scouts and served as an altar boy. He graduated from Whitmer High School in 1968. The following year, he married his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Lewandowski on August 23, 1969.                                                                                                                                             

Dave was a hard worker all his life.  He worked at Kewpee’s during high school and then as a bricklayer. He became employed at Roadway Express as a dockworker where he worked for 30 years. In retirement, he took a part time job at Burger King and enjoyed meeting with his Roadway friends for their weekly “Teamster’s Breakfast Club '' get togethers. Dave spent large parts of his summer at Walden Woods in Orland, Indiana, where he enjoyed many weekends with his wife, children and grandchildren, who were the light of his life. Fort Myers, the Outer Banks, Memphis (Graceland) and Nashville were also favorite destinations. Sports were always a big part of Dave’s life. He participated on many teams including basketball, football, softball, golf and bowling. He coached football for the Washington Township League for eight years and was an umpire in the Toledo Metro Baseball Association. Dave enjoyed watching sports and was an avid fan of the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Lions and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Dave was a survivor in many ways and was grateful for his 36 years of sobriety that saved his life and gave him many more years with his lifelong love, children and grandchildren. He was a loyal and reliable friend who will be greatly missed.                                                                

Dave is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Elizabeth (Lewandowski) Schupp; his children, Michelle Sands (Scott), Jennifer DeYarman (Mike), and Garrett Schupp; his grandchildren, Emily Casto (Seth), Bret DeYarman (Melissa), Emma Sands, Nevin Schupp, and Hudson Schupp; and the newest edition to the family, great granddaughter, Elsie Marie Casto.                 

Friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, 5712 N. Main St., Sylvania, Thursday, April 7, 2022, 4:00-8:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be conducted at St Adalbert & Hedwig Catholic Parish, 3233 Lagrange Street, Toledo, Friday, April 8, 2022, 11:00 a.m. Interment immediately following at Resurrection Cemetery, 5725 Hill Ave., Toledo.
