David John Wend

David John Wend, age 69, of Ottawa Lake, MI passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023. David was born in Detroit, MI on December 14, 1953, to James and Vivian Wend. He graduated from St. David High School, Detroit, in 1971 and from Ferris State University in 1973. David earned a degree in Electronic Engineering in 1977 from RETS Institute of Technology. He had worked for Cincinnati Time Systems since 1973, beginning as an electronic technician and advancing to service manager, sales manager, and vice president in charge of operations. In 1996, he became a sales executive at the Farmington Hills, MI headquarters. Then, he started his own company, Corporate Defense Systems, and was very proud of the great strides he made with his dedicated staff.

David enjoyed cooking for family and friends, travel, fishing from his boat on Lake Erie, and gardening. He was a very happy, energetic man who always had an amusing story to tell and had a sparkle in his eyes.

In 1995 he married the love of his life, Linda Lee Wend, who survives him; along with brothers, Dennis and Donald; sister, Debbie (Jerry) Romanko. He was a proud uncle to many nieces and nephews; and a proud father of his fur baby, Gretel. David is also survived by many, loving in-laws.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Gary Wend.

Family and friends may call at the Reeb Funeral Home, Sylvania, OH, Thursday, May 4, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. where Funeral Services will follow at 1:00 p.m.  Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Toledo.  The family suggests donations in David’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
