Craig Allan Henricks, age 68, passed away November 13, 2023 at his home in Blissfield, MI, from a double pulmonary embolism.
Craig was born in Toledo, OH on July 21, 1955, to Donald Henricks and Hilda (Suggs). He grew up on a farm in Blissfield with his parents and his younger brother, Shane. After graduating from Blissfield High School, Craig enlisted in the US Marine Corp, but returned after an injury in training led to an honorable discharge. Craig took Judo when he returned and met a woman named Debbie in that Judo class. Craig married Debbie (Kreighbaum) on August 25, 1979, and they were blessed with two daughters. He worked as a corrections officer at the Michigan Department of Corrections for 28 years and retired in 2020.
Craig loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter throughout his life, frequently hunting ducks, pheasants, geese, and deer. He was an excellent shot and received recognition on numerous occasions for his shooting at Ducks Unlimited competitions and other trap and skeet events.
Family was important to Craig and some of his happiest times were traveling with his family to National parks and other places with beautiful scenery. He valued education and prioritized helping his children while they were in college. He loved family barbecues with his children and grandchildren. Craig was very outgoing and could find something to talk about with anyone, he loved to tell stories and share memories. He was a large man, with a booming laugh, and he gave the best bear hugs. He loved reading books, classic rock music, and action movies.
Craig is survived by his wife Debbie, his children, Laura Henricks (Will Sweat) and Kristi Henricks (Alex Heck), and his grandchildren, Ethan, Ian, Knoah, Alex, and Jacob. He is also survived by his brother, Shane Henricks. Craig was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Hilda Henricks and sister, Cheryl Henricks.
Per his wishes, Craig is being cremated and there will be no formal funeral service, although the family will have an end-of-life celebration privately. In lieu of flowers, condolences or monetary gifts that will go towards an educational fund for his grandchildren, may be sent C/O Reeb Funeral Home and online condolences to reebfuneralhome.com
