Charles "Chuck" Willis Gempel

Charles “Chuck” W. Gempel, age 77, of Sylvania, OH passed away August 9, 2018 at the Ebeid Hospice Residence.  Heaven welcomed a true angel.  He was born in Toledo December 29, 1940 to Catherine and Julius (J.R.) Gempel.   Chuck married Dianne Provonsha October 6, 1962 and enjoyed 56 years together.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Dianne; sons, Charles and Chris (Alicia); granddaughter, Sierra; grandsons, Zach, Luke, and Cole; brothers, Jack and Tom; sister, Patti; and many nieces and nephews.  Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill; and sisters, Sally and Mary.

Chuck served our country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 to 1964.  He enjoyed cars, especially his 1957 Chevy that he had in his twenties.  Chuck had several jobs throughout the years, retiring from Brandywine Country Club in 2013 as their golf cart manager.  Mechanically inclined, Chuck loved to work on cars, mowers, golf carts, and anything automotive.  He was a member of the Sylvania Moose Lodge.

Chuck will always be remembered as the nicest guy you would ever encounter.  A sincere human being, he had time for everyone and never asked anything for himself.  Chuck enjoyed friendships with wonderful people throughout his life.  His grandchildren enjoyed a special bond with “Grandpa” due to his kind and patient manner.  He was never in a hurry especially when engaged with Sierra, Zach, Luke, and Cole. 

Chuck chased the lottery with little success.  Play some numbers this week.  We are confident he is watching and can pull some strings.
