Charles Alcorn, also known as Chuck, Acorn, Dad, Grandpa, Ole Pa, went home on Monday, November 17th, 2025. He was 92.
Born to the late Charles Sr and Marguerite (Gantz) Alcorn on April 8, 1933, in Toledo, Ohio. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Kathleen Trudy (Helmke) Alcorn with whom he built a life filled with love, laughter, and family.
Together Chuck and Trudy raised four children: Connie Gregory, Laurie Cousino, Chuck (Lori) Alcorn III, Bob (Linda) Alcorn. His legacy continues through seven grandchildren: Trudy Cousino-Foster, Roger (Lynn) Cordrey, Heidi (Scott) Holden, Brandy (Craig) Koperski, Courtney (Adam) Duncan, Amanda Wing, Chaz (Kelly) Alcorn. Fourteen great-grandchildren: Daniel (Christina) Cousino, Michael (Becca) Foster, Morgan Foster, Brianna Koperski, Makenzie Cordrey, Taylor Cordrey, Blake Cordrey, Dominic White, Bryce White, Jaxon Duncan, Sydney Duncan, Charlie Alcorn, Avery Alcorn, Drew Alcorn: and one great-great granddaughter Memphis Foster.
He is also survived by his brothers: Donald “Butch” (Sue) Alcorn, Kenneth (Diane) Alcorn.
In 1953, Chuck was drafted into the U.S. Army and served honorably during the Korean War as a Heavy Weapons Infantryman at Fort Benning, Georgia. His service earned him the National Defense Service Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Following his military career, he dedicated over 31 years at Toledo GM Powertrain before retiring in 1993.
Chuck was a man of many talents and endless curiosity. He found joy in cooking, baking, hunting, fishing, woodworking, and could often be found tinkering in his garage workshop listening to music. He was a true craftsman and problem-solver, remembered for his ability to “do almost anything”. His family and friends will forever cherish the countless stories, laughter, and memories he leaves behind.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Heartland Hospice and Sylvania Fire-EMS Department for their compassionate care and support. Honoring his final wishes, there will be graveside services on Monday, November 24, 2025 at 10am at the Ottawa Hills Cemetery where he will be laid to rest in the Garden of Love.
